SHC Adult Mixed vs Havering W 4-2

Report written by Emma and Ollie Wickham

The second best mixed team in the country were excited to be back on the pitch after 2 years of suspended competitions, to defend our silver medal from 2018. We travelled to Hornchurch to face Havering HC mixed XI. The first half was very scrappy from both sides and saw us go 1-0 down after some tired defending and many missed opportunities on our end. In the second half we decided to start scoring some goals by hitting the ball on target. Charles scored from a short, Ella got a deflection on a Charles hit, Charles fired one across the goal from the baseline which a Havering defender deflected into the roof of the net and there was a well worked counter attack with Mandy and Ella to put the game out of reach. Havering fought back to win a corner in the final minutes. They managed to slot the ball past Chris who had made many outstanding saves throughout the game. Full time whistle blew just as the game started to get a little feisty and we finished with a 4-2 win which sees us play Wapping in the next round next Sunday away at Lee valley.
