Aerial view of Southgate Hockey Centre

<go back

The picture below was taken at about 2,000 feet above Oakwood on 8th August 1998 looking approximately north-west. Whilst the reflections from the window affect the view a little, you can clearly see the Hockey Centre set in its wonderful country setting, yet only about half a mile from the Piccadilly Line tube stations at Oakwood and Cockfosters. Both places mark the end of suburban London and the start of the Hertfordshire countryside. Also in view is the M25 (London's orbital motorway), and its junction with the A111 near Potters Bar. Close to the Hockey Centre can be seen the Trent Park campus of Middlesex University, and in the foreground the Trent Park Golf Club course.
