Ladies 1s battle hard against high flying Wimbledon

The final game of the 2018 season for the ladies ended with a very flattering 5-1 win for the opposition, Wimbledon.

In keeping with the theme so far this year, our girls were incredibly unlucky in front of the goal. Two off the crossbar, one after a premature whistle and the rest missing by inches. Bobbie “where’s my stick” Burkin put in a solid performance at the back, earning her MOM. The ladies only goal came from the ever-reliable Katie Hopkisson, off a well worked but terribly named “Drew Burkin super short corner special”.

The first half of the season has proved tough for this fresh side, with 10 National League debuts, two new internationals, and an average team age of 20.5. Nevertheless, each player who has taken the field for the 1s has proved themselves and as a unit, we have certainly completed with the teams at the top.

We are all looking forward to a well-deserved break over the Christmas period, and have plenty of January fixures to keep us busy before the first game back on the 2nd Feb.

Stand out Ladies performance was the Ladies 3rd team who beat top of the table Eastcote 2-0.
Ladies 2s lost 5-1 to West Hampstead
Ladies 4s lost 3-1 To Old Merchant Taylor
Ladies 5s lost 3-1 to NPL
