Ladies 4s finally triumphant!!!

A big cheer for Southgate Ladies 4th Team who finally won a match in Middlesex Division 1 and did it in style with a convincing 4-0 win over Staines 3rd Team to lift themselves off the bottom of the table!! Goals came from short corners and open play, 2 in each half and scored by Emily Wilder, Leona Robinson, Megan Langley and our Woman of the Week; Julie Rodriguez. Great team effort and huge thanks to coach Jake McCarthy who is really turning the team around.

The Ladies 1st Team probably played the best 15 minutes of hockey they have played at National League level against a very high quality Wimbledon team. 2-0 up after 15 minutes they battled hard to go in to the break 3-2 down. In the second half superior fitness and experience wore the tiring Southgate team down and in the end they were well beaten 6-2

The Ladies 2nd lost 2-0 to Reading

The ladies 3s had a rainy and foggy game at home vs Ashford ladies 1s. With ashford one point behind in the table, a good game was anticipated. Despite getting a 2-0 lead in the first 15 courtesy of Caitlin (baseline run) and Cob (a cross from Chloe that was tipped in beautifully), the final score was a frustrating 6-2 loss. Southgate had more possession, more chances on goal, and faster transfers. But ashford simply managed to get outcomes in the D. Jess was voted man of the match, playing an excellent game in midfield.

5ths had a slightly turgid 0-0 draw v Winchmore Hill!! After a 70 minutes soaking, in the grim, North London drizzly gloom, a definite highlight was the replacement for dodgy sausage teas with an impromptu picnic and, Karen’s inspired flasks of hot chocolate! Beth, Julie, Annette and Heather all got MOM votes with captain Pauline only very slightly edging it.
