M1s make the long trip to Bath all the worth while!

Result : Southgate 3 – 1 Team Bath Buccaneers

Match Report : Simon Parker

Last Sunday saw the M1s make the long trip down to Bath to play TBB, but it was a fruitful one as they returned with all three points winning 3-1.

Southgate off to their now almost usual slow start and were totally outplayed for the first quarter, luckily it ended goal less with few actual shots. After a quick re-assessment during the quarter time break, they came out to start playing, enjoying a much improved performance although the half ended scoreless.

The deadlock was broken four minutes after the break with Nairn Gilbert opening the scoring for Southgate from a penalty corner after his drag flick proved too good for Elliot Clarke in the TBB goal. Twelve minutes later and Nairn got his and Southgate’s second from another penalty corner. With the M1s firmly on top, a further three minutes passed before Matt Allister extended the lead getting the third after his shot beat the advancing Clarke to find the top of the net.

TBB managed to get one back after Liam King scambled the ball past Ollie Wickens.

The victory was somewhat mired with two minutes to go after Jonny Maunder came off with a broken finger, an injury which is set to keep him out for a few weeks.
