Massive 5 Goals get Magnums the Win!

November 24, 2021

Result : WIN 5-0

Match Report : Cliff Peck

Following on from a good performance last week( but no points) we took on Amersham & Chalfont in a mid afternoon clash.Retaining the same formation as last week but twerking the positions of some personnel we immediately set about testing the opposition’s defences. With a rotating midfield of Colin  W , Graeme W , Gary A and Ben R we kept the ball moving with crisp short and invasive passing cutting through their midfield providing good service to our front line of George H , Tony M and Martyn A  , constantly posing a threat to their ever increasing packed defence .After a good number of attempts on goal being thwarted due to the shear number of players in their ‘D’  we finally  as deservedly breached their defencive line with a well taken hit by Martyn A , 0. 1 to the Magnums .Midway through the half a ball played into the ‘D’ by Colin W  was intercepted and lifted into Colin’s face . Some 10 mins passed whilst Colin received treatment from our in house medic Jez L  who expertly ‘stitched’ Colin up and led him to the safety of the side line.

Colin was reassessed at half time , received the green light to continue at some stage during the second half.Magnums continued the onslaught throughout the half , it was only a matter of time before we added to the score line .Two accurate angled shots from Ben R , a fine hard hit short corner from Colin W and a goal line scramble pushed over by Martyn A  secured all three points , 0 – 5 being the final score .

Throughout the match our defence stood firm whenever the opposition threatened on the counter attack .Martin C , Tim G , JonnyR & Stroller prevented all but two attempts on our goal, both snuffed out by our goalkeeper ( one being their only short corner duly dispatched to the side line) .

Two players stood out , together  awarded joint MOM .Ben R for his best performance to date with a display of superior stick skills combined with controlled positioning .Stroller , his second game at the centre of a back three , with the security of Martin C , Jonny R  by his side plus Tim G behind provided an outstanding display of positional awareness  and strong tackling  intersepting any attempt to breach our defensive line.
