Men’s 2s back to winning form with important 3 points vs East London

Match Report : Robbie Gill

Result : 3-2 WIN vs East London

The game begins with East London sitting back and looking to catch us on the counter. Lots of chances not being taken in the early stages of the game due to the lack of personnel on the back post. However we keep pushing and a few good passages of play lead to an eventual short corner win. Drew steps up and proceeds to fling the ball into the roof of the next 1-0.

East London still yet to create any threat towards goal begin to press higher up the pitch. They begin to turnover the ball in midfield and attack the goal. A few warning signs and close calls unfortunately one found its way into our net. 1-1 heading into the break

The second half begins with Southgate pressing hard to win back the ball and retake the lead. A missed short corner was a let off for East London. Thankfully that was not to happen a second time as Southgate’s 3rd short was sent right into the top right corner by Drew for his second of the game. 2-1

The game begins to get a bit scrappy in parts as East London look for an equaliser. An amazing close range save by the keeper Savas kept us in the lead heading into the last 15 minutes of the game.

Fortunately we push though the East London pressure and find a third thanks to a quick break down the right flank. The finish by Hugo was not the prettiest, a near post dribble that could not be stopped by the recovering defender. 3-1

East London with nothing to loose are on all out attack trying to rescue a point. They begin to dominate the ball and get more entry’s into the D. They eventually win a short and Tom B sees yellow for his attempt at a tackle. 3-2 the corner was converted  via a rebound after the save.

The final minutes of the game was a tense endeavour. Especially due to the importance as points are critical due to the poor start to the season. Thankfully we hold out to until the final whistle.

A massive 3 points and confidence boost for the next game.
