Result: Whites 8 Reds 3 Jo Price
This should have been our last Saturday friendly but our opposition pulled out late in the day. We took the opportunity to play a full-pitch game but without goalkeepers producing a high-scoring match in the Southgate sunshine. Around 30 players from across the squads turned out for the 11.00 PB producing some neat play from both sides with the teams looking fairly evenly matched during a competitive first half.
However, in the second half the Whites, despite losing most of their subs, took control and powered ahead. The Reds almost secured their 4th goal with a break through the middle but were foiled by an impressive last ditch intervention from a white defender. They continued to press valiantly to the end but the White defence proved impenetrable and they were were unable to make a break through.
I have to be honest and say that I don’t remember who scored all the goals. For the Reds, Bhu cracked a shot from the edge of the D with Kathy sprinting in from the left to ensure that the ball crossed the line. For the Whites, Vicky G
put in a big shift on the forward line, scoring one and ably assisting with several others. However, the top scorer for the day was Whites, Queen of the Quiz, Michelle J with four
goals to her name!
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and those who were able to stay enjoyed chocolate cake in the garden to celebrate Kim’s birthday.
