Mixed XI jam Wapping Printers hopes
Southgate mixed team progressed to the EH tier 1 cup quarter-finals thanks to a 4-2 away win over Wapping Printers at Olympic Park. Scorers were Charles Hamilton, Chris Debonnaire and Frankie Cox. The win – and a bye in the next round – means the team will be back in action on March 22.

Flagons momentum continues
Southgate Flagons  (men’s O40s) kept up their recent run of good form despatching visitors Old Cranleighans 5-2. “An early goal saw us settle in and start to dictate play,” said captain Greg Wildisen. “But OC had chances too, and squandered a couple against the woodwork, including the cross bar but both teams kept attacking.”

The Southgate men scored some beautiful goals with the pass from Chris Fell for Joergen Jaehnig to catch on the back post. These two scored a brace each but James Pinney got in on the act too by feigning a top right flick under the goalie into the bottom left corner. “There were tense moments at 3-1 up when OC came at us hard but the defence looked solid and when the 4th goal came it was all over,” said Wildisen. “Shout out to Jon Huddleston who played his first Flagons game at right back and put in a sterling performance.” Flagons face fellow strugglers Tulse Hill away on Saturday for another big game.
