Dear Fellow players and friends of Southgate,
Welcome to the New Hockey season. Of course a very different feel but we are delighted to be playing again. A massive thank you to Liz and her team for making the Centre available for limited but welcome socialising but do please respect the rules and if they change be ready to follow them. I must also thank your Chairman Neil Murphy for helping to coordinate with both the Centre and the Trust the return to hockey. We must not forget that the Centre is unable to host the usual functions that underpin vital additional income.
We held a very positive Club open day on the 5th September and it appears we are growing in membership which is fantastic. Certainly we will need to stretch the playing window over each weekend to accommodate all the matches and allow the flexibility needed to avoid too many players intermingling at any one time. Thank you Mark our fixtures secretary and our two Chairs of Selectors, Annette and Neil Prior, for all the work you put in. Without the dedication and tremendous hard work of all the committee we would not be playing hockey, so my thanks to all volunteers who offer their time and energy .Now more than ever, if any who are not involved feel you have time or skills to offer to the Club please do step forward.
I look forward to the season with renewed enthusiasm, wishing all teams every success but conscious we all need to be flexible in our approach and prepared to offer help where needed.
