Dave Richardson 65th minute goal helps promise M6 rear guard action but too little too late to topple local rivals

Match Report by Will Hargrove

M6 vs Wimchmore Hill & Enfield M1

HT 0-2
FT 2-3

On paper this was a tough assignment but we’d only lost 2-1 to them at their place. The game started ok, we were a little patchy but decent enough. Then we conceded a couple of goals not entirely against the run of play but at 0-2 down at the break we really felt we were in it. And so it proved. Just two minutes into the second half we turned the ball over and Felix Rushton fed Rich Martins and it was 1-2. Sadly we couldn’t quite keep this up as we then turned the ball over for them to go 1-3. Then there was about 10-15minutes of back and forth before a melee after a PC saw Dave Richardson put the ball away and the last 5 minutes got exciting as we pushed for a draw. Alas not to be but a decent account.

Jon Dann had a few MNOM votes that were thoroughly deserved as he had a good game. Joe Spencer likewise had votes and was strong with several long range passes working well. James Rushton was dependable and composed yet again. Andy Richardson was very useful to have making good decisions and endless good reads. Mark Mather was standing in at right back and did well. Oliver Yaoz worked in midfield and was good going forward. Will Hargrove had a better second half when keeping things simpler. Zac Mistry was a threat with the ball as ever. Arun Sharma-Saul this week in midfield worked hard. Adam Batchelor had a really good game, active, threatening and hassling the oppo – industrious+. Felix Rushton was well involved in the first goal and moved well. Dave Richardson got into good positions and gave us width. Rich Martins was a good target for us and took his goal well!
