Dogged display in south London leaves M2 just shy of pole position in London Premier Division.

Result : WIN 1-0 vs Spencer M2

Match Report : Alastair Whatley

Southgate’s Men’s 2’s continued their winning ways with a jaunt across strike ridden London to Spencer. A notoriously tricky pitch just outside Wandsworth was the battle ground for yet another cagey game, short of goals but not short of drama.

The side welcomed back Savvas Hadjigeorgiou between the sticks and Dr. Charlie Rookes along with Nils Lloyd-Penny coming in for Will Shepherdson in the back line, Will rightly dropped after his brother was seen scoring for Teddington against our M1 the weekend previously.

Spencer forced the 2’s into a scrappy contest leading to a few ill disciplined moments resulting in Gate being down to ten minute for at least a quarter of the game. Yet the defence held fast and eventually we forced a PC which saw Louie Sadler flick hard to the right saved off the line by the Spencer postman resulting in a flick which was duly converted albeit without ceremony by Aedan McCrossan making it 1-0.

And so it remained, plenty of good moments, plenty of tackles and plenty of miles as Spencer forced us to work for every moment of possession and every yard of territory.

The win makes it 3 wins from 3 for the 2’s seeing them tied on points at the top of the table and looking to make it 4 wins on the bounce this weekend at home with another tough test against Tulse Hill & Dulwich.
