M1s look forward to the new season

The M1s are looking forward to the start of the new season and are excited to put the development shown in pre-season into action. They come into the new season looking to improve on the third position achieved last season, the target being promotion and bringing premier division hockey back to Trent Park.

The core of the side is unchanged from last season, however the squad has been bolstered by the addition of Welsh internationals James Kyriakides from Cardiff Met and Peter Swainson from Oxted. USA internationals Chris Rae and Tyler Sundeen have also joined the roster. Furthermore Alex Williams from Oxford Hawks, Aedan McCrossan from Villa Primrose and Dan Johnston from Hampstead & Westminster have also added further quality and depth to the squad.

They have lost several notable players in the off season; GB Under 21 Duncan Scott is on loan to the University of Exeter while studying and will be plying his trade in the West conference. Italian international Enrico Francesconi has seen his job move to Hamburg and will be playing for the german power house Uhlenhorster, while USA’s Adam Miller has chosen to play premier hockey at Reading along with Graeme Scott. In addition, Paulie Singh & Will Holt have returned to the States .

“The squad have challenged themselves to make a significant jump in performance this season. The players has worked incredibly hard in pre-season and have made significant progress tactically, physically and technically. Consistency is our key driver this season, we know we have the quality and when we are playing well we are a match for anyone. The challenge for this season will be to produce a high level of performance more often and for longer periods” –  Danny Newcombe – M1 Head Coach
