W6’S 10 WOMAN TEAM TAKE THREE POINTS AWAY AT RICHMOND

Match Report by Kim Bishop-Laggett

The W6s went away to Richmond for another early game on Saturday. Coffee on board and down to 10 players we met at the ground for a very long walk to the pitch.

We seem to do well when the odds are against us and everyone pulls all the stops out. Saturday was no exception. They looked sprightly, we looked determined. Determined to have fun and play well.

It always takes us a while to get going and our defence was battered for the first 10 minutes, but if we can survive that period we tend to settle down and from then on are on the up.

Helen had a super game in goal, covering from side to side and stretching like elastic. Our defensive team were solid and we scuppered most of their breaks into our circle.

Our midfield ran tirelessly, there was some lovely play going forward but boy did they have to work back.

Our forwards stretched the pitch and put pressure on their defence and although we were a player down we seemed to cover the space.

It was 2:2 at half time when some wise words from Stroller gave us the push to get two more goals. We came away with a well deserved 3 points.

Final Score 4-2 WIN.

Big shout out to Jos for coming back and running out one on short corners – very brave. MVP was Gabz Taylor in Midfield.

A really well deserved win.
