M6s undone but not unbowed in coltish reckoning

2-5 Loss
Match Report by Will Hargrove

This was always likely to be tough assignment. We had actually battled hard away at the H&W colts but come away 6-1 losers (2 late goals). So here we had to fight hard. The good news is that we did. The score order can be seen above and was a little hard to take as at least two of their goals involved a rebound off a post back into play. One of their was also a well taken stroke by one of their younger players. There were a few cards for either side but the overall tone of the game was good and competitive. The two “gate” goals came from a nice finish by Adam Bachelor and gave us a lift going to the second half. The other was a stroke by Hargrove after Gavin Kay was scythed down on entering the circle. All in all a closer game that 5-2 suggests.

Jon Dann was captain for the day and led well, conventional saves were well dealt with, anything that comes back of a post is always a lottery! Stephen Gwynn-Jones was back and played well, good ball pace and tackling. Andy Richardson, always a joy to have Andy, really played well and helped us bring on some of the youngsters. James Rushton tackled well again, he was a little hyper critical of himself but played well. Will Roughton, was a clear man of the match at right back. Moving well, mature on the ball and taking on the advice. Gavin Kay, was a dynamic and very welcome addition in midfield and always a threat – well played. Laurence Whyatt was a very harsh recipient of what was probably a “team yellow”, otherwise he fought well. Will Hargrove had a decent enough game but did force things a bit at times. Oliver Yaoz had taken on advice from previous weeks and tracked back well. Fin Bachelor had to play a few positions and suffered a smack on the foot followed by rolling the same ankle. Arun Sharma-Saul was industrious through the midfield. Felix Rushton was strong o the ball and had a particularly good second half. James Lockheart ran hard and got into some good positions. Adam Batchelor our opening goal scorer was a constant threat and held the ball well, dynamic too.

A massive “6 pointer” away at Chiswick next week!
