Southgate 0 – 1 Harleston Magpies

This weekend, the women’s 1Xl travelled over to Norfolk to play against Harleston Magpies in a bottom of the table clash. After the highs of last weekends win against Wimbledon 2’s, the team were feeling ready to go for this important game.

The first half was tightly contested with both teams winning corners and creating opportunities. At the half time whistle however, the score remained 0-0. The third quarter saw Southgate gain more of the possession, leading to a goal that was unfortunately disallowed. Sadly, in the final quarter, Harleston Magpies won a breakaway penalty stroke which they put in the back of the net.

The team were very disappointed with the result but are looking forward to next weekends fixture against Bath, hoping for a better outcome.

Lily Freeman, pictured right, (U18) made her National League debut on Saturday, with a stellar defensive performance.

Flora Walker was awarded Southgate’s player of the match after another impressive defensive display.
