WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER WITH A BUCKET AND A SPADE

The ladies ventured to Ashmole Academy for what we knew would be a tough match as Hendon & MH are currently sitting third in the table.   With last minute emergencies we were left with one sub against a tough and clearly organised team.  The opposition clearly had the home advantage, understanding just how hard the ball had to be hit to make it move on what felt like a beach rather than a pitch.

The Southgate ladies were taken slightly a back and within 12 minutes the ladies in red and black were 3-0 down.  Our midfield rallied and a strengthened defence  kept the score that way for the rest of the first half.

HT 3-0

A rousing half time team talk from Bhu and Sarah rallied the troupes and the ladies went out fighting.  There was some lovely joined up play and soon in the second half what can only be described as an almighty whack from Sarah through to Olive gave us our first ( and sadly last ) goal of the match.  There were more opportunities in the second half as the ladies realised just how strong the passing had to be but today was not our day.   Hendon scored two more from short corners with clearly executed set pieces and though the defence today worked their red and black socks off the match ended in a 5-1 victory to H&MH.

A very well deserved MOTM to Sarah
