A 7-1 win and top of the table for the W4s

The W4s were at home this week for their second match this season, against an Ealing side that they could have put forward for an U18 fixture!

With the return of the captain and a goalie, an upbeat team took to the field, looking to continue from where they left off last week. Whilst we were missing Olivia, we were joined by Freya and Julie who along with Lara and Lucy worked the midfield beautifully ensuring plenty of balls were reaching our forwards of Michelle, Millie and Alex.

Lara scored quickly in the first half and though we won a couple of short corners we were unable to convert, mainly due to their best player by far – their goalie!  Ealing also had a couple of early shots at goal but Kitty, in her first match for the Women’s 4s at Southgate was having none of it and booted them confidently away. We did concede 20 mins in and the score was levelled at 1 all.

Some lovely joined up play between Lara and Millie led to the next two goals and with Alex sealing the fourth in the last minute we went into half time 4-1.

A few sweets and a bit of team chat and we went back for more.  Mighty Maz at the back kept a cool and controlled defence in play ensuring Daisy, Asha, Lena and Rhi quickly dealt with any breakthroughs and  short corners were swiftly dealt with, including a truly outstanding save by Rhi. The midfield continued to dominate and it wasn’t long before Julie passed a beautiful ball to Michelle who made sure it was going in the back of the goal despite the Ealing keepers best efforts.  The captain promptly left the field, looking for a G&T, announcing her work was done 😊  A final couple of goals from Freya and Millie meant the end result was a very well deserved 7-1.
