Ladies 1s through after penalty shoot out

The Ladies 1st team had a busy weekend with a home fixture against St. Albans on Saturday and a cup game away to Teddington on Sunday. The St. Albans match was a scrappy affair and Southgate were some way off the fluent play seen a couple of weeks back against Chelmsford. A 0-0 draw was probably a better result for Southgate than for St. Albans. Another excellent performance from Jess Hudson in goal. A very important away game next Saturday at Harleston (Near Diss). victory would set us up nicely for the second half of the season.

The next day saw a much more open affair down at Teddington. Southgate opened the scoring with an excellent short corner drag flick from Lydia. However Southgate’s passing game once again was not firing and after considerable pressure St. Albans went 2-1 up. With five minutes to go a great goal by Emily brought the teams level. So it was down to penalties. With no Jess Hudson in goal it was down to Debutant 1s keeper Jana to try to save Teddington penalties. St. Albans scored 2 to Southgates 1 from 1st two rounds. However St. Albans then missed and when Lydia calmly equalised the pressure was back n the home side. Penalty four brought a great save from Jana. A Bobby Burkin penalty took Southgate ahead and when Jana saved the fifth penalty the celebrations could begin. Why were ever worried? With a German in goal there was only ever going to be one winner!!

Ladies 2s had hard fought 2-0 loss at home to Milton Keynes.

Ladies 3s continued great form and are now 3rd. They beat Ashford 1-0

Ladies 4s lost 3-0 to Hampstead and Westminster

Ladies 5s won 2-0 v Chiswick
