Olive back in action with 2 goals scored for W5s as they take home first 3 points of the season!

The 5s got their season off to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Eastcote 4s.

The team was a mix of old and new as we welcomed Jasmin, Francine and Nandini. All put in stellar performances with Jasmin playing her second game of the day and making some incredible saves, while Nandini kept the pressure on upfront and Francine tightly marking on the back line.

We also had some mighty juniors line up again for a second season in the women’s section being Lucy, Niah and Bella. All showed great resilience and adaptability against an experienced and robust side.

The first half of the game the squad took a bit of warming up to get used to each other. We had a few defensive short corners, and fortunately did not concede at any point, getting the ball out early. Lucy made a lovely break at one point with a speedy run back to the 23. Olive got a brilliant goal in after some tough battling putting us 1-up at half time.

The second half showed a real tightness and it was the forwards stepped the pressure up with a series of about 4 consecutive short corners. The perseverance paid off when Olive got another goal from a lovely flick in at close range.

Our fabulous Niah took home player of the match. She put in a brilliant performance with lots of battling a resilient side and showing some lovely skill work making ground up and down the pitch.

Overall the team played some really nice hockey, and worked hard to keep the pressure on and bring home the win! We’re looking forward to getting stuck into the rest of the season and hopefully tallying up more victories.
